    The Dongjiang (East River) is one of the three main rivers in the Zhujiang river system in South China.The Dongjiang Basin covers an area of 35340 km2,of which 90% is in Guangdong Province.Abundant in natural resources,the basin has an important position in the economic development of Guangdong. The water from the Dongjiang is supplied to Shenzhen,Hong Kong, Huangpu District of Guangzhou, Huizhou and other towns along the river for their 5.4 million peoples living use and for industrial and agricultural production. However, the seasonal distribution of water resource in the basin is extremely uneven. The surface water in flood period accounts for more than 80% of the annual total,while that in low water period less than 20%. For the last fourty years,a lot of reservoirs and other water conservancy facilities have been constructed and have been of benefits to hydraulic power generation, cortrol of flood,irrigation,navigation and water supply.But in recent years,with the growth of the population and the economic development in the Dongjiang Basin, the demands on water from the Dongjiang have increased sharply.

    In this paper,the geographic position, the depositional ages and the activity of crust of the Zhujiang delta are discussed. The authors consider that the oldest depositional age is possible in Late Middle Pleistocene Epoch or Early Late Pleistocene Epoch.The rate of vertical tectonic motion in the area of Zhujiang Delta since Late Pleistocene is 0.35~2mm/a and the rate of moderns is 3-4mm/a.

    According to the analysis of tendency of sediment transport in Lingdingyang estuary at Zhujiang river mouth,the evolution of Hengmen channel, the detail calculation of deposition in the dreged part at Lanshan shoal,the future deposition caused possibly by cultivation enclosure around Lingdingyang estuary,the author believe that the channel of Zhongshan harbour would be silt up.and the area of Lanshan shoal is a compound bar of Hengmen and Hongqili channels,the deposition in the channels would get greater after the channels were dreged, Therefore it is more reasonable for Zhongshan harbour to be built for 5000 tons rank ships before A. D.2000.

    Along with the extension of the Hengmen river mouth during recent 100 years, the Lanshan watercourse tended to silt up, in which the shallows of 2.7m water-depth is presently the main obstacle for large steamships to sail to Zhongshan Port. The Hengmen river mouth is dominated mostly by runoff action, and so is the Hongqili river mouth. The suspeneed sediment and bed load from both of the two mouthes are annually 21.78 million ton and 1.1-2.2 million ton. The sand and current in erchange outside the mouth,and act on each other. The average tidal range in Hengmen is 1.1m. According to the excavation pratice in the shallows of the lanshan watercourse, the deposition rate was monthly 2.5-10 cm while the calculating result from maths modal showed that rapid deposition process whould occur in the place after dredging under wave action.

    A preliminary inquire into the erosion mechanism and formal evolution feature of the toppling and slumping type gully, which dominates the disintegration of red soil hill slopes in the granite areas of south China is entered into details. Physical and chemical changes of the clay particles in soil cause chiefly the toppling and slumping from the headwall and sidewalls of gullies. Not only towards the divide but also the gully outlet,the slope disintegration expands its area, resulting progressively in an armchair-like landform. Analysis of slope disintegration system puts forward a suggestion that to control the slope disintegration, enhance effect of feedback should be focused on,thus making the system to reach a state of relative stability as soon as possible.

    The rich tourism resources in Shixing County of Guangdong Province are introduced in this paper, such as the large meteor crater found first in our country, the country's natural protection region with abundant wild resources, the fossil community of dinosaur paleontology in the end of Cretaceous Period,the site of mankind lived in cave during the New Stone Age, the great ruins of the ancient castle of Han Dynasty, surrounded building that can reflect the custom of mankind lived in a compact community.According to the present situation of tourism in Shixing County,the development of the tourism resources and the expanding of the tourism are discussed.

    A micro-computer database system has been set up on the base of the socio-economic development-plan of Yangshan County. The system consists of correlative fundamental data bank, models bank, plan bank and a number of thematic maps bank. Data related to natural resources, socio-economy, development-plan, prices of merchandise and materials and useful technical informations were stored in it;a series of socio-economic prediction and analysis models were incorporated as well. These make it quite valuable in economic and technical exchang and application of plans.

    In this paper, through analysing the statistical data of meteorology stored during the last thirty years from 1950-1980 in Hunan Meteorology Bureau and the four-degree index of special great drought,great drought,medium drought and minor drought, three characteristics of droughts in Hunan Province are revealed as follows: (1)droughts happen frequently;(2)droughts happen in four seasons;(3)there are great differences among droughty areas. This paper also points out that the main factor leading to droughts in Hunan Province is climate;next to it are factors of soil character, forest and vegetation, the construction of water conservancy and human activities. At last, in order to relax and lighten droughts, the author puts forward some measures about doing well construction of water conservancy works,consuming water economically, strengthening vegetation construction,adjusting agricultural structure and strengthening to use underground water rationally.

    In this paper, the method of combining comprehensive comparison with quantitative analysis is used to analyse comprehensively the positive and negative influences which are produced by geographic environment in developing the foreign-oriented economy. The conclusions of this research show:(1)The position of traffic geography of Huizhou Municipality is the most favourable factor for attracting foreign capital. But in present, the traffic facilities are still backward and must be built up as rapidly as possible.(2) The pattern of geomorphic distribution is advantageous to avoiding occupying cultivated land in developing the foreign capital enterprise. But the number of decreasing cultivated land which is caused by developing the foreign capital enterprise has obvious regional differences.(3)The coastal zone resources provide an excellent condition for developing foreign-oriented economic aquatic cultivation. They ought to be protected and utilized rationally. (4) The development of foreign-oriented economic depends upon the flow of regional information and passenger traffic increasing year by year.

    The restricted conditions of urban land-use in Beihai City mainly conclude climate, topographic features,engineering-geology,hydrogeology, the present utilized situation of the city and the variation of constructive conditions caused by the urban function in Beihai, etc..According to some targets of urban construction,the restricted factors and its classificatory standard of urban land-use can be determined.In the light of it, comprehensive analysis and assessment are make and land-use for the whole of the city can be classified into four sorts. At the mean time when destributive region and related character of all sorts of the land are showed, some suggestions about the layout of urban land are made:(1) to take urban land conditions as foundation to distribute the urban functional sections of the city. (2) to bring the local adventage into play, utilize the coastline fully and rationally. (3) to distribute it in its entirety, strengthen the land scape of three-demensional space. (4) to strengthen plan and management of land-use.

    The oil and gas industries zone along the coast of the North Africa is one of the important phenomena of industrial distribution along the Mediterranean Sea coast. In this paper, the essential characteristics of the spatial distribution of oil and gas industries in the coastland in which had region-product complexes of oil and gas industries have been revealed and, three combination's forms of oil and gas industries have been classified as the following: fuel oil form;fuel oil-petroleum chemical industry form;unidirectional petroleum chemical industry form. Finally,the author probes and evaluates the main geographical factors effecting the forming of the oil and gas industries' regional system in the coastland,including oil and gas resources, transportation, economic geographical positions, consumer markets and investments.
