Per mu yield of rice in the Pearl River Delta now is 4 times over that of 40 years ago, while absolute deviation of the yield is 5 times. This paper is to investigate to what extent the short-term fluctuation of yield is related to Climatic variability. Monthly temperature, precipitation and sunshine duration from March to November during 1950-1986 in Guangzhou were used as Climatological data base for the climate impact assessment on rice yield for 7 counties in the region By virtue of stepwise regression analysis, it is identified that sunshine duration in May and July and rainfall in September are main influential factors on rice production. More than half of the variance of rice yield in 1950s and 1960s can be explained by these 3 variables, but their impact become less in 1970s and 1980s.

Water bodies in the Pearl River Estuary are zoned seawards into three types by shoreline and 4 misobath, which are fresh water, mixed water and salt water. The hydrological and sedimentary characteristics of the estuary are as follows:gentle slope of flood waves, water and sediment interchange among tributaries, flood against tidal currents,water-level rising, small tidal range, siltation at the place where tidal currents meet, deposition resulting in the river-bed development, strong runoff or strong tidal current at the tributary mouth gates, fresh water and sea water mixing in the tributary mouthes and the estuary, evolution of bars and troughs, great storm surges, etc.

Wuhua county, on the upper reaches of the Hanjiang River, is situated at the northeast of Guangdong province. The area of soil-water erosion in the county amounts to 875.83km2,which takes up 27.15% of the whole territory. According to the degree of the erosion, 4 areas are ranged, from high to low,as follows: the north sector, the east sector, the middle and northwest sectors and southwest sector. Three principal types of the soil-water erosion, the lamelliferous erosion, the trench erosion and landslide erosion, could also be classified. Based on the composition form, the character istics of geographical distribution and the uniformity in the prevention and harness of soil-water erosion, five subregions are divided and measures are relatively put foreward against to the different situation in each sub region.

The Nanliu River basin, or the Hepu basin, is part of grabens or semi-fault basins resulting from the long period activities of Beiliu-Hepu deep fracture in Guangxi autonomous region. The basin, formed in Cretaceous,is an area of petroleum target, sub-tropical resource development and important seismic monitoring. Its geological-geomorphological development, being related to the development of regional geology, has characteristics. The form and process of crustal tectonic movement in connection with both of Pacitic Plate and Indian plate colliding against Chinese Continent can be inferred by the time series characteristics of formation and development of the basin, and the regular changes in space of its major compovents. The development of the basin is strictly controlled by "X" type conjugate fractures. Fault-block movement and differential uplift and subsidence movement are the distintive structural characteristics of the basin. Plate movement is the major mechanism of the formation and development of the basin.

Weizhou Island is a volcanic island, which rocky strata exposed are mainly basalt, tuff and volcanic breccia. The development of morden coastal landform has been effected deeply by hydrodynamics and changes of sea-level. It can be demonstrated by the distribution of coral reef that the south of the island was eroded, and the north, otherwise, piled up. According to the 14C dating, since late Pleistocene, Weizhou Island has been elevated and the average rate is 1.6~2.1mm during the recent 2000-3000 years.

The present investigation was carried out in Longhai, Nanjing county and Zhangzhou City of the South Fujian,in order to explore the changes both in chemical and enzymatic properties of litchi orchard soils, which have different lengthes of cultivation period,to find out the, correlation between them. It was found that most nutrient contents and enzyme activities increased with the extension of the cultivation duration, and higher fertility level in most litchi orchard soils of full fruit period has been maintained. There are significant or more significant correlations between several enzyme activities and some nutrient contents in this statistical analyse. Study shows that the enzyme activity is one of the important indexes for evaluating the mellowness degress of red soils in litchi orchards. And the indexes of the suitable mellowness level are suggested in this work. The present paper points out that the management practice of combining organic and mineral fertilizer application should be beneficial and important for the improvement of red scil fertility in litchi orchards.

Xishuang Banna with a total area of 19 322 km2 and the forest coverage rate of 33% is the largest tropical region in China continent. Being rich of tropical will animals and many species left from the Tertiary Period, so it is an assemblage of ancient and modern animal distribution. The animals in the region have a unique and important status in the world. On the investigation and statistics in 1988, the species of the wild animals in Xishuang Banna are list as follows:fishes 9 orders, 23 families, 79 genera, 163 species;amphibia, 3 orders, 8 families, 2 subfamilies, 17 genera, 54 species; reptiles 2 orders, 2 suborders, 16 families, 2 subfamilies 43 genera, 79 species; birds, 19 orders, 61 families, 229 genera, 447 species; mammals, 9 orders, 34 families, 74 genera, 125 species. Among the mammals, 23 are the most important species of state animal protection. It is very significant to protect the resources in this treasure land of wild animals.

By the analysis of geographical distribution and floristic geography in Yunnan province, the author expounds that the area of Yunnan, Guangxi and Guangdong is the modern distribution centre of fagaceae plants in China. The tropical and subtropical flora make up 70 percent of the total amount of Yunnan fagaceae plants, which shows that the flora geography of Yunnan fagaceae plants is full of tropical nature. The flora in Yunnan has complicated end plentiful types and wide connection with world flora. Finally, the origin of the Yunnan fagaceae plants has also been probed in the paper.

The establishment of the new province and being the largest Special Economic Zone has brought a good opportunity for the economic development of Hainan Island. In general, the island has very special advantages so does some defects, therefore it is necessary to develop step by step, which is also the key strategy, so that to vitalized by readjusting industry structure. The regional development way of even and decentralized distribution should be taken place by the strategy of agglutinative economy in central cities.

The special tourism of Hainan Island minority nationalities is one of the two items of tourist activates which are of best local characteristics. La Nationality, having immigrated for over three thousand years, calls itself original inhabitants. In the minority nationality region, there are unique social system, religious beliefs, national costume and customs which are all important human tourist resources. Tourists can get great enjoyment by understanding the history of Li and Miao Nationalities, visiting the villages and dwellings museum, seeing folk sings and dances, examing marriages and living manners, and tasting delicacies. Besides, there are plentiful natural resources, such as wonderful water-falls, precious and scarce animals and plants, famous mountains, and scenes of the Karst.Tongshi, a centre city in the minority nationality region with modern tourist facilities and scenic spots may well plays as a support city role to the special tourism. For developing the special tourism, suggestions are also put forward in the paper to improve the travelling environment.
