The socio-economic condictions in the Pearl River Delta are now undergoing a profound change. In the change, It is inevitable that a number of problems great number of agricultural labour force will transfer themselve to the secondary and the tertiary industries; considerable number of rural population will migrate to various size of agricultural lands will be occupied by towns;the western cultures will affect the people's mind, and so on.To tackle the problms some appropriate policies and messures, with a positive attitude should be taken. In this way, the Pearl River Delta could then develop in a healthy manner. And the Chinese styled socialist urbanization could also be established.

Grain production Is a very important part in the national economy and the ocoplc's livelihood. to Guangdong coastal area there are very large population but relatively insufficent cultivated land, with an average cultivated area per capita of 0-05 ha. and it does not reach the average level of the province. Thcrcforc, great attention will be certainly drawn to the problem of grain production by the end of this century.

In this paper the author provides three new concepts:(1)the intensity of trip production on land;(2)the Intensity of trip attraction on land;(3)the intensity of trip frequency on land. Using these concepts, the author measures the imbalance degree of spatial distribution of inhabitant trips in Guangzhou. analyzes the relationships between the urban inhabitant trips and land-use Intensity by applying repeated multiple regression model of the distance-decay model of land-use Intensity is also used to indicate the centres of land-use intensity. The results show that the spatial distribution of inhabitant trip is uneven because of the imbalance of laid use intensity.and that every kind of land-use intensity is comprehensively and hierarchically distance-decayed following the law of negative power function and the important centres of the distance-decay include the town halt Nanfang Department Store and Sihu Commercial Market. This means that most social-economic activities gather in the central region of the city. In order to solve pressing traffic problem. therefore. We should reduce the intensity of land-use in the central region.

On the basis of a great many of statistics the present characteristics of city traffic in Guangzhou are anaiysed. The direct reason of traffic congestion is the imbalance of temporal and spatial distribution and unrea sonable structure of motor vehicles flowing volume. Based on the excisting condlctlons. the paper points out that the distribution of transporting capacity and routes systerm In the city should be adiusted so as to improve the sltuation of the city traffic and to raise the econom return and social benefit.

Cane sugar industry is the maior section of the sugar industry.Rational layout is very Important for its development.Based on the analysis for the distributive status of the cane sugar industry, some excisting problems are pointed out. Such as, the distribution of the cane sugar refineries are generally too decentralized. but they are also too concentrated in some areas at the same time; the sugarcane processing capacity does not match the size of the sugarcane base; some sugarcane fields are too far away from the refineries,so it is not convenient for the row material transportation and the co-operation between the refineries and the rural producers. it also increaces the product cost.

The Qiongzhou Strait is the third biggest strait In China, The origin of this strait has been the point at issue since early 1960's, The. authors focused their attention on this point when they were examining the coastal Quaternary geology along the western coast of Guangdong Province during 1984-1986, 811 samples of cores and outcrops were analysed by many means of datlngs of 14C,TL, K-Ar, palcomagnetism, and analysts of grain size, trace-element, surface textures of quartzsand, heavy mineral, clay mineral, fossil diatom, foraminifera, ostracoda, shell and sporo-pollen. And the origin of the strait was analysed mainly from the strattgraphic and geomorphologic points of riew, In the period from the late Early Pleistocene to the early Middle Pleistocene, the volcanic eruption formed a lowland between the volcanoes in the south of Leizhou Peninsula and those in the north of Hainan Island.

With a total storage of 127.3 million m2. Changhu Reservoir is a water powerdevelopment having remarkable economic effeciency in Guangdong province. But a lot of sediment has deposited In the reservoir since it was built more than ten years age because its surrounding enviroment has been destroyed in different degrees. In June. 1986 the authors tried to detect the sedimentation rate of the reservoin by means of both geological sedimentary interface and 210Pb geochronometry. The results show that 819.58 million m3.i.e.6.7973 million tons of sediment had deposited in the reservoir in 13.5 years. This means a yearly average of 0.6071 million m3,0.5035 million tons. The storage capacity of the reservoir was reduced by 0.4896 each year. And 6.4496 of the total storage had been lost up to now.So the reservoir life for water accumulation is 125-182 years. But for water power ut111zation. only 33.5 years.

Based on irnestigation and former information, the regional geologic history of coastal placer in Guangxi is discussed, especially on the favourable conditions of placer deposit formation and the relationship between coastal placer and intrusive masses.According to their formative conditions. the placer deposits along the coast of Guangxi can be divided Into five mlnerogenetic provinces. The features of minerals and mineral associatlon, their distribution and existent conditions in these five provinces are analysed in detail. And then the genetic type of ore deposits and their origins of minerals. From the result, the aggregation law of the coastal placers in Guangxi is revealed.

Both the process that iron oxide and aluminium oxide accumulate and the process that elements of Ca. Mg, K. Na migrate strongly are the main part of the forming process of iron lateritlc so11. As plants absorb Ca. Mg. K,(Na),the biogeochemistry action acts against the migration of these elements. Therefore. iron fateritic soil results from both geochemistry action and biological geochemistry action in the long period of time.
