    The location and future plan of the GETDD(Guangzhou Economy and Technology are evaluated fn this paper.The author regards the GETDD as being located imperfectly.Two lessons drawn from loratlng of GETDD are identified as follows:(1)The location of GETDD should depend on the correct guideline.The author believes that it is unnecessary to emphasize the principle of isolating GETDD as a specially geographical unit delimited by distinct frontiers.(2)The feasibility of the location of GETDD should be studied seriously.It is proposed that GETDD should be located after detail survey and investigation instead of verifying after choosing the location.In terms of the requirements of rational distribution of productivity in the whole country and the needs of economic development of Guangzhou} the author confirms that absorbing the advanced technology and developing the advanced industry are correct long-term objectives for GETDD.However,economic development is the most important task in the initial stage of construction.Technological development should be based on and promoted by economic development.Therefore.it is necessary to develop a number of projects which have the characteristics of growing fastly.and earning in the short run,with the balance in revenue and expenditure of the foreign exchange.

    Due to the dense population,the lack of Iand and the rapid urbanization,the agriculture in Chaoshan Region is facing severe problems.As a result,it is urgent to seek the strategic countermeasure to solve them.Chaoyang county is a typical example of the situation in the region.This county has accumulated a lot of successful experiences in developing agriculture since liberation,which are very useful for the whole region.

    Qi-ao Island is the biggest one in the Lingdingyang of the Pearl River Mouth.The Island has the rich resources of land and shoah plenty of sunshine,heat and water,luxuriant plants and various tourist resources.and it is also a big island in Zhuhaf dty which has the potentials for Its economic development.At present the main economic development in the island depends on agriculture,which makes up 91.5% of the total income.It is a developing island relying mainly on rice and breeding oyster as subsidiary-Other resources have not been fully used yet.

    Based on the mlcrofossil analysis 14C dadngs sporo·pollen analysis geomorphological and sedimentologlcal investigations of the pests along the coast of Fuiian Province.in this paper the palaeo-enviroments are discussed In which the pests have been developed.The author concludes that the pests were formed in the ternestrlal depressions under the relative cool climatic conditions during the periods of low eustatlc stands.

    Both of principal component analysis and fuay mathematical synthesis are applied to water quality assessment.It is a try to studying of methodology.Principal component analysis can be used to get a comprehensive index or prlucipal component with maximum characteristic value.which reflects efficiently the difference of samples and contrasts the pollution degrees of samples.On the other hand.the pollution types could be determlnd by means of selecUng major parameters with greater contribution and deleting the less important ones in the comprehensive index.But this method can not successfully select proper standard for water quality graduation.when a parameter of each sample is almost equally high value It will be missed out of the covariance matrix analysis.This is the second disadvantage which hinders the method for water quality graduation.fuzzy mathematical synthesis judgement can be used efficiently and objectively in water quality grades assessment.but does not have the advantages of principal component analysla.United application can improve the deficiency of each method and make better water quality assessment.

    Three undisturbed cores were obtained with a static corer(Model LDC-1-1) from the Shenzhen Bay,and their sedimentation rates' were determinated by 210Pb method.There are three characteristic layers shown from the profiles:the surface mixed layer.the low background activity layer and the radioctive decay layer in which the distribution of excess 210Pb decreased exponentially with depth.The sedimentation rates of these three cores are 1.27,2.40,2.50cm/yr.,and the sedimentation fluxes are 0.92,1.55,1.60g/cm2.yr.

    The abundances of eight heavy metal elements in the soil in Yunnan Savanna are given in this study.Distribution and proportion of the six geochemical forms of each element are also provlded.After discussing the vertical distribution and the formation of the six geochemical forms of each element,the authors conclude that:1.Element migration in Savanna is still dominantly aqueous migration.2.A sulphide geochemical barrier is probably existing at the bottom of the reducing alluvium.3.Blological migration in Savanna is not strong.

    The regions for overwintering of seed lac of winter generation in Guangxi have been investigated;the experiences of introducing and breeding of lac insects(lraccifer laoca Kerr)for more than 30 years in the regions have been summarized.the author suggests that the rational layout of Iac production should be accorded with blonomics and ecocllmatological environments of 1ac insects;the areas of land for the row material product of lac insects and the bases for overwintering of seed Iac should be established;the overwlnterlng seed lac should be bred on different host plants to raise the propagatlve proportion of winter generation of the lac Insects;for raising the breeding technics.much of the work should be done.such as the management of host plants for overwlntering of lac insects.the prevention and control of the pests of lac insects and host plants.the cold resistant varieties of lac Insects adapted to local climate should be bred.in order to resolve the overwlntering of seed lac.Base on the Investigation of 55 counties in Guangxi,the author considers that 7 counties among them can be served as the first-class regions for overwlntering of seed late 13 as the sand-class;and 35 as the areas of land for raw material product of lac Insects of summer generation.

    All the 11 oceanic countries except New Zealand are situated in the tropics & subtropics.High tempreture & rich rainfall are beneficial to the growth of tropical crops in the Northeast District of Australia and in all other developing oceanic countries(DOC).Comparing with these courtries in Asia,Africa Central&South America As a production region of tropical-economic-crops(TEC),Oceania is exploited most recently and developed most rapidly.due to the effects of human activities.Sugar-cane,coconut,coffer,cocoa & oil palm are the main TEC in Occania.

    According to the field observation and preliminary experiment.the authors discuss the origin of the Beihai Formatlon,the palaeogeographic variation of late Quaternary and the neotectonlc movement in northern Hainan Island.The Beihai Formation widely distributes in the region formed in middle pleistocene with a steady horizon,has the characteristics of both terrestrial and marine origins and consists of different landforms which show the obvious regional differences of the neotectonlc movement in northern Hainan Island since middle pleistocene.In a word the research.of the Beihai Formation development not only has academic significance but also benefits the studies of the Quartemary palaeogeography and neotectonic movement in northern Hainan Island.

    Slash-and-burn,a primitive way of farming.has been practicing in Hainan Island for a long time and is now a serious problem of land use there.The author states that slash-and-bum remains a longer period in the island than in the continental China is because of the following:widespread dry regions are suitable for rough and drought-resistant crops;large areas of forests can survive occasional and provide condition for slash-and-bum;sparse populated areas make rotation farming possible;shifting farming is made smart because of the low productivity of the national minorities,the later built-up of irrigation system and the less-developed cultivation;slash-and-bum can help habilants to drive out the miasma and tropical diseases and therefore the environment in mountainous regions is better;poor communication and transportation make it with an more difficult to;and also,slash-and-burn provides poor immigrants easier way to live.
