    Hainan,as the biggest rubber production base in China,it rubber plantation locality,to sum up,is rather in regularity.The relief of the island is the source of this regular distribution.Topographically,the island is marked by mountainous area lying on central part and surrounded by hill and platform with plain spread along the coast.

    The mountainous area of north Guangdong is rich energy resources.About 40 percent of the total energy commodities.produced in this area are sent to Guangzhou and the Zhujiang Delta.The critical situation of energy shortage in Guangdong will be relaxed the setting up of a nuclear power plant,importation coal from north China and the exploitation of oil resources in the south China Sea.

    The Hanjiang Delta is the second Largest deltaic plain in South China.It covers an area of 1700 square kilometres.Under the complex effects of environment factors and agricultural activities,paddy soil,dry cultivated alluvial soil,seashore sandy soil,tidal beach saline soil,lateritic red earth and red earth formed there.paddy soil is the main one among these six soil groups,it makes up 90% of the total area of cultivated land Among the soil species of paddy soil,sandy mud field,covering half the area of paddy soil,is a major high productive soil in the delta.In order to raise the fertility and to maintain a higher productivity of soils,it is necessary to adopt the following measures:development of organic manure sources,rotation of rice and dry crops,adequate fertilization,and improvement of irrigation and drainage.

    The city of Maoming,located in the west of Guangdong province,South China,started its industry for artificial oil in the 1950's,taking advantage of the oil shale deposit near by.After 1960,the industry gradually advanced into one that was capable of processing the local shale and the petroleum from North China as we1l.Later in 1970's,many other industries such as petrochemical,electric power,building material,etc.appeared here.The city will certainly become an even more important base in the exportation of oil products.With the development of the industries,several areas with different functions have taken shape in the city.In order to promote the further development of Maoming,the authors suggest tha certain adjustments in the distribution of the industries should be made and that the suburban agriculture,which should supply the city with more agricultural products and side-line products,should be established.

    The investigated beaches are located at Chi Ma Wan and hek SPik,Lantau Island.The daily elevation changes were recorded,and plotted against wind speed and direction(data obtained from the Royal Observatory,Hong kong,for Cheung Chau Island) and volume changes.
