    Mangroves are distrituted along the muddy tidal coasts of Guangdong province,Those inhabiting on the coast of Hainan Island are the most exuberant,are including 42 species belonging to 23 families,They are categorized as the eastern formation.A cording to their structure,phenotypes and ecological environment they may be classified into 3 groups and 10 communities.

    Advantages of economic development in Guangzhou were discussed in this paper,It is necessary and possible that Guangzhou should be developed as a biggest port city in South China,which will make her the greatest economic centre in this area.However,she is now still faced with such problems as shortage of energy and transport means,outmoded equipments,unfavourable communication,a nd irrational located factories,In future,export processing industries must be developed.It is important to strengthen the economic association between Gunagzhou and countries near by,in particular,the cooperation with cities in the Zhu,liang Delta.

    Chenghai-Raoping Reclaimation Project is the largest one in Chaoan-Shantou Plain,As a result of superfathom embankment,the reclaimable land accounts for only 58% of the total area,while the lake and marsh amounts to 31.5%.The development programme of Chenghai-Raoping Reclainlation Area should be in harmony with the evolution of geographicalenvironment.Thus the author suggested that "Major efforts should be devoted to developing aquatic product industry in order to bring the superiority of the lake and marsh into full play.On the basis of raising the per unit yield of grain corps,the crops structure should be readjusted by expanding the area of cash crops so as to establish the commodity production base of fishes and fruits."

    The City of Beihai,Guangxi Zhuong Autonomous Region,is one of the 14 coastal open cities in China,The author suggested that Beihai economic exploitation area(included both Beihai city and Fangcheng town) ought to be separated into two different parts,Beihai should be developed into a multifunctioning city integrated industries with foreign trade,aquatic production and tousism,and Fangcheng into an important port.

    This paper attempts to explain the structural characteristics of the South China arc mountain system and Taiwan mountain range with the modern geological theory-plate tectonics,as well as the relationship between the intrusion of granite caused by deepseated faults and the South China arc.Emphasis being laid on the arc,therefore,more detailed analysis has been made for its formation and evolution.Discussion has been also made on the views of some well-known scholars.
