In 1992,the government of Guangzhou set a goal that in the coming fifteen years Guangzhou should attain modemiztion basically while it being built into an international metropolis with fine environment and fresh air.At present the atmospheric environment quality in Guangzhou is not so good as that in many internatiotal metropolises of Asia.The main factors impairing the atmospheric evironmental quality of Guangzhou are traffic pollution,smoke pollution and suspended particle pollution.
With the Parid economic development in Nanhai City,the impact of economic development on atmospheric environment becomes obvious in recent years.The characteristies of air pollution sources and air quality of Nanhai City are analysed in this Paper.1)Fossile fuel comsumption increases annualy.Waste gas from the township industry is mainly from Production;2)The main pollutants in industry waste gas are SO2,NOx,and dust,mostly form the important air pollution sources of the thermal power stations,the cernent works,and the ceramic factories;3)Changes in concentrations of main air pollutant and air guality comprehensive index are not obvious.But in 1992,air quality was worse;4)Settling dust and TSP are the main air Pollutants.As a whole,air pollution in Nanhai City is not serious.But problemes of local air pollution exist.
In this paper,Shunde Municipality is selected as a typical region standing for the Pearl River Daled because of its excellent location and dike-pone system.There are three main characters of agricultural land use in this region.First,the most typical land use form is dike-pond system,It is a special form of artificial ecosystem of lang-water interaction.Second,sandy area is also an important land type in this region.Third,land use is greatly influenced by export-oriented economy.Recently,with economic reform and the opening up of the Pearl River Daled,the structure of agricultrual land use has been changed greatly.
The tropical area of the Lancangjing basin is the largest one in those areas of Yunnan,where there is great potential for development.The authors consider that the tropical land should be fully and rationally developed and ecological,economic and social benefits should be achieved because that kind of land in China is limited.The main way is to estaolish bases to plant tropical crops such as rubber,spice,coffee,medicinal herbs,tropical fruits,sugarcane and tea.The distribution of tropical crops can be divided into two types-the vertical and the regional,forining the specialized pattern with decentralization in big scale and centralization in small scale for ddevelopment.An overall plan for tropical crop planting and a service system are needed,and special policy for fund and technique should be made.
Feilal Gorge in Qingyuan,Guangdong is a famous scenic spot.In the Gorge area 88 species of pteridophytes belonging to 58 genera and 34 families have been identified.Of the families and genera,respectively 58.7% and 66.1% are tropical.The relationship between the fern flora in the Feilal Gorge and those in Southeast Asia is very close.The fern resources in the Gorge area are affluent,and about half of which can be used as chineses medicines,the others may be cultivated as ornamental plants or made into health beverages.The pteriodophytes can also be used as indicator plants in agroforestry.
The Luofushan mountain in Guangdong Province is located at 23°15'-23°22'N and 113°57'-114°4'E.It is of mild climate all the year,abundant rainfall and various plant species.On the mountain 1168 species of vascular plants(including varieties and cultured plants) have been identified,in which there are 676 genera in 201 families.A comparative study of the floristies relationships betWeen the Luofushan mountain and its adjacent regions is made with computer cluster analysis in which the similarity index is used.The result indicates that the flora of the Luofushan mountain is the most similar to that of the Dinghushan in mid-west Guangdong,the percentages of common family,genera and species are 97.4%,94.7%,82.3% respectively.It is also similar to those of the Jianfengling in Hainan Island,Cheboling in North Guangdong and Yinnashan in East Guangdong,Its family,genera and species common to those of the Jianfengling are 88.0%,67.3% and 37.5%;to those of the chebaling are 87.2%,67.1% and 46.5%;and to those of the Yinnashan are 87.2%,56.4% and 40.8% respectively.But its relationship to the flora of the Lushan in Jiangxi Province is not so close.The common family,genera and species account for 77.8%,57.4% and 30.6% respectively.
Hunan Province is rich in natural resources.But the resources have not produced good economic results yet.The main restrictive factors are unreasonable regional and sectorial economic structures,low level of the resource processing and little additional value of industrial products.Basic structure of regional and sectoral econonmy of the province are studied and adjusting measures are put forward.The keys of economic development in Hunan Province to give full play to the superiority of natural resources,make full use of the advantage of the location and give priority to the development of manufacturing economy.
Hunan Province has peculiar geographic location,advantageous natural conditions and various types of land resources,with rather high natural produciton potential.At precent forest land and cultivated land are two of the largest land-use types,and the regional difference of land-use is evident.The problems on land-use are as follows:unreasonable land-use structure,low land-use efficiency,degraded land quality,and decreasing area of agricultural land.In order to develop land resources rationally and meet the need of social and economic development,the following measures should be taken:1) formulating correct land-use principles with overall consiederation;2)raising land-use efficiency with intensive farming;3)optimizing land-use structure;4) strengthening the protection of land resources.
Based on the analysis of the series of drought and flood grade during the Past 524 years,the character of continuance and interval of drought and flood and their evolution regularitites in the coast of SE China in the historical period are discussed.It is shown that the historical continuance of dryness or moistness is near 200 years and its second oscilation is 70~80 years the 20-year and 35~40-year oscilations possibly also exist.The drought or flood years are mostly in groups;the drought phases generally continue 10~20 years and the flood phases 10~30 years.According to these characters of period and phase it is predicted that the drought and flood phase before the 2010s will generally trend to normal in the area.
Situated in the southeastern coast of China,Xiamen is rich in tourism resources,where there are green hills,and blue and clean sea,and the climate is warm that make flowers bloom all the year round,consitution fascinating subtropical scenery.In this paper the discomfort index of tourist climate is analysed.It shows that the climate in Xiamen is suitable for tourism in any season.But typhoon damages occasionally occur in summer and autumn,and precautions should be taken.Moreover,the protection of ecological environment should be stressed,while tourism industry is developed.
Theme parks have been very hot for tourism develolpment since the mid 1980s in Shenzhen and Zhuhai.The current state of theme parks in the two cities,with emphasis on Splendid China in Shenzhen and Pearl Land in Zhuhai,is analysed in this peper.The former has been very successful,getting back the development cost after more than a year;the latter,however,has suffered from loos for a long time.
The mountain regions in Guangdong are rich in natural and human tourism resources.The Problems in tourism development are:low level development of tourism resources,less tourismitems,insufficient funds,and poor transportation facilities.The author makes some suggestions for the development of tourism industry:1) Exploit the tourism resources with local features and develop verious tourism intems;2)Improve transportation and communicaiton facilities;3)Raisemore funds for the construction of tourist facilities;4)Strengthen the cooperation among scenic spots;5)Pay attention to the Protection of tourism resources;6)Do well the propaganda for attracting more travellers.
Suez Canal is regarded as the boundary between Asia and Africa,but some regard the border of Egypt in Sinai Peninsula as the boundary.The author considers that it is more reasonable to give the boundary according to physical geography.As the boundary between two large continents,it should reflect both the integrity and differentiation in different geographical units.Because Arabian Peninsula is similar to North Africa and is different from Anatolia Plateau,Iranian Plateau in crustal movement,plate tectonics,landform,climate and vegetation,the boundary between Asia and Africa should be re-considered.The similarity between Arabian Peninsula and North Africa and the differentiation between Arabian Peninsula and Anatolia Plateau,Iranian Plateau in Physical geography are discussed in this paper.The conclusion is that Arabian Peninsula should belong to Africa and a new boundary between Asia and Arrica should be delimited.
